If you are not offering wall art you truly love and know is durable and will last for a lifetime, I have a little story for you.
I thought I loved my gallery wraps, they came from a nice lab- they were nice- actually they were crazy nice compared to the old gallery wraps I used in the beginning, but I did not love the product.
Years ago, after a year of going back and forth and wondering if clients would pay the luxury prices, I finally transitioned my canvas supplier to Guild Canvas Co.
I had an ordering appointment over Zoom with a client from 2017. She purchased a horse I had photographed and was interested in buying one of his portraits to match what I had created with her other horses in the past. I let her know that I had changed a bit and now offer a nicer, higher quality canvas… but that I could match her old one if she would like.
She actually told that me every time she moved her old canvas she’s was worried she would dent or rip it.
I realized for all of those years I was doing my clients a disservice providing them with something that was not amazing and certainly was not durable.
Guess what this client asked?
“Can I buy another canvas of my old horse you photographed and also get a new one of this new horse in the newer higher quality canvas?”
I sold a $1000 Guild Canvas to someone who had previously bought the same exact portrait on the old canvas + she bought another Guild Canvas of her new horse. I had a $2600 sale from a few sessions that happened 4 years ago.
Moral of the Story: Don’t be afraid to offer the best of the best even if it means the prices are high and sometimes a little scary. Your clients will value the difference and appreciate you for it.
